Background

Jhirpu School is at northern part of Nepal in Sindhupalchok district Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality ward No -04, Hindi. It is in Bagamati Province .The school is established in 2017/02/15 B.s (1960 May 28 A.D). At first the classes run from class 1 to 3, then in 2031/01/05(April 18, 1974 A.D) class 4&5, in 2038/09/16(31 December 1981) the school is upgraded in lower secondary up to class 8, in 2052/09/03 (December 18, 1995) it starts teaching class 9&10 and In 2063(July 2006) the school converted into Higher Secondary where Classes are run from Pre Primary to Class 12.

This School is the central school of this area. The students come from Tatopani,Chaku,Listi,Nayapool,Marming,Tayangthali,Narayanthan, Phulping,Dhuguna and other villages. Due to lack of village road and far away from their home, about 4 km from tatopani and 5 km from Tayangthai students have to walk 3-4 hours daily to study in higher level.

There is interesting saying about how the school is named many years ago here lived Tamang and Magar caste people they used to keep goats and sheep for their livelihood. In their houses they used to keep meat for long time in "JEER" so the place named as Jhirpu . From the place of name the school is named as Jhirpu .

The earthquake of 2072/01/11(15th April 2015), 2072/01/12, 2072/01/29(April 16th, may 12th) has totally destroyed our 36 room building. After that we leased the land and started classes in TLC (Temporary Learning Center) where "TUKI" the local NGO with UNHCR helped to build TLC. Now on 2074/11/23 B.S (7th March 2018) about 5 Ropani land we bought in the safe side of the area.

At present we have 3 storey two building, one two storey building and one building with two rooms. Here we have 12 classrooms, one science lab, one computer lab, one library, one canteen, one nursing room, one account room, one management office and one teacher staffs room. We manage two rooms for store, one guard house, in the entering area one Saraswoti temple. We have two well equipped refreshment toilet. We have facilities of pure drinking water.

From 2079/80 we are chosen as a Modal school from central government of Nepal. We are constructing one 12 classrooms building where we will manage well equipped lab and hostel for students and teachers. Being a modal school we are using various ways to improve Learning Achievement.

Geographical Background

School is located in Northern part of Nepal which is in Himalayan Region. The land of this area is very weak every year people have to face the problem of landslide, flood because of Bhotekoshi River .It is about 115 km from the capital city of Nepal, "Kathmandu" but the road isn't good so people face a lot problem in rainy season.

Social Background

Here Tamang, Sherepa, Dalit. Thami, Newar and in few numbers are Brahamin. People use their mother tongue language as "tamang, Sherpa and Nepali". Hindu, Buddhism and Christianity is the religion of people and according their beliefs they celebrate Dashain, Deepawali, Lhosar, Christmas and so on. People lived together with in harmony and prosperous help to each other beyond their religious belief.

Economic Background

Most people do farming. New generations are attracted in going abroad and in business. The most people earn here doing various work in Tatopani Border but after 2015 earthquake it is closed so people have to choose alternate business for their livelihood but there are not opportunities so people lived in hard life here. Lack of fertile land, destruction of earthquake, flood, landslides, and closed border make the life of people hard.
